Is there anything that is immune from the merchandise exploitation squad? In a seemingly endless line of “what were they thinking?” cross-market ideas, Mega-blocks, the bastard stepchild of Lego-like construction sets, has penned an agreement with 20th Century Fox (and by association, probably a lot of other franchises) to produce and market a line of Halo themed construction toys.
Joining other licensed products, the Halo sets will allow your little one all the visceral experience of the games, without all of the… well… game. Vic Bertrand, Chief Innovation Officer of MEGA Brands states, “We look forward to bringing the iconic characters and vehicles of the video game to life through Mega Bloks.”
I don’t get this. There are already Halo Action Clix figures which are great to bring the detail and imagery of the games into your kids hands; oh – and there is actually a pretty good set of rules to play a game with them.
There are the McFarlane ultra-detailed Halo action figures which are just stunning to behold.
And if you want to build Halo models (or movies!) with blocks, why not just use lego?
I wonder if MEGA has to have an ESRB rating for these things?
